The Gates of Hell: At the Abortion Mill, March 22, 2014

March... it is a month with promises of Spring and warmer weather, but out on the sidewalk, 45 degrees is still cold!

We had sunshine, and wind. I have determined I just need to dress for Winter until the temperature gets above 55 degrees.

Smiling and letting the public know that Children are a Gift!

Coverage for this Saturday looked like it would be spread pretty thin when Jonathan, Elizabeth and I got there. Only Kim and Jeremy were there. Praise the Lord we had more folks come out a bit later!
Praise the Lord for a turn away!! Kim took a married couple over to Kinder Women's Care Center (WCC). She was told there were complications with her baby and were referred to Founders. Who knows why that would have happened. Kim said the woman was crying and definitely did not want to be there. Kim told her WCC could get her in touch with a specialist that could help her with whatever she's facing with her baby.

I just don't understand why doctors are so quick to refer an abortion. March 21st was National Downs Syndrome Day. Did you know that 90% of babies that have a prenatal diagnosis of Downs Syndrome will be aborted???

There was a family that attended my church for a while who had a daughter with Downs Syndrome. I think she was 19 when they left. I made a point to talk to her every Sunday. I don't know much about the challenges people with Downs Syndrome face. I have seen different levels of severity and this young woman seemed pretty independent. She was home schooled and I think that probably was a huge advantage to her. She would tell me about books she was reading and different things she was interested in. She loved hugs! I was thankful for the interactions I had with her. I remember as a young child if I saw someone that was "different" than me (some type of disability or deformity), I felt very uncomfortable and didn't really know what to do around them. I hope I can teach my children that regardless of our abilities or disadvantages, we have value because every human being is made in the image of God. God doesn't say that only healthy children are a blessing... Children, no distinction, are a blessing.

R.C. Sproul, Jr. said it best when he speaks of his daughter (who has been with the Lord for over a year now) Shannon:

“Her nickname is ‘Princess Happy’, because her smile is so big when I go to her bed each morning, that her eyes are nearly shut.  I reach down and scoop that baby up in my arms.  “Daddy made you pancakes, Shannon.“  I remember Jesus’ words…”I was hungry and you fed me…inasmuch as you did it unto the least of these, you did it unto Me.”
I look at Shannon again and I can’t believe the God of the universe would give me this opportunity to minister to Him…every day.  That he would tell us ‘Unless you become like little children, you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven’, and here, Shannon is so innocent–she is my spiritual better, constantly showing me so much about the Kingdom.  I beg the Lord, “Please, please don’t take her.”

Well, off my soap box and back to the sidewalk. :)
Kim has noticed a blond haired woman maybe in her late 40's- early 50's who has brought several women to the Mill. Immediately when she gets out of the car, she yells profanities to keep the girl she's escorting from hearing what the SWC are saying. Well, she showed up again. Yelling and cussing  at us. She revved her engine after she had left. We think it's a little fishy that she has brought several women in. We're keeping our eyes open and plan to bring it to the attention of the Police Officer that is on duty there. Who knows what's going on, but I pray we can help if there is any sex trafficking going on.
There is another young, married couple that we have been getting to know the past couple months. They have been a great encouragement to us. They speak to women about the Hope we have in Christ, His Redeeming Love. I really appreciate them being out there.

Until next time...
