Foundation Church Outreach: April 5, 2014

The temperature was still fairly cold out on the sidewalk. There was wind, and no rain!! Not having the rain made it seem much more pleasant.

This was the first Saturday of the month so folks from my church came out to minister to the abortion bound men and women.

The kids were cussed out by a woman driving by on the street.

Jonathan and I got there and joined the normal, faithful crowd of Sidewalk Counselors. We hung out in the back for a bit with Kim and tried to offer info to people coming in. Kim was letting a woman know about the lawsuit filed against the abortionist. The woman's response was, "Everyone's got a lawsuit." Later on, some kids and I ventured in the back again and that woman was still there sitting in her car. Kim asked the kids if they would stand in front of her car and sing. They gladly walked up to her car and began singing. The woman turned her music on and the volume up to drown out the sound of the Truth being sung by the little ones.

Being a Light
Jonathan and I made our way up front as we saw people from church start to pile in. They were so excited to hold signs towards the traffic and wave! They took a break from holding signs to sing a couple songs: A song based on Psalm 139, He's got the Whole World in His Hands and Jesus Loves the Little Children. Those kids LOVE to sing! They sing from their hearts because they know what is going on behind that glass door just a few feet in front of them. They want the people to hear the message of HOPE and LIFE!

The children's boldness grew as they stood on the sidewalk. They kept thinking of one-liners to say in unison. "Okay, one, two, three- PLEASE DON'T HURT YOUR BABY!"

"CHOOSE LIFE!"

"LET US HELP YOU!"

Pastor and Elder holding signs and offering help
Steve took some time to share the Gospel, I called out to the ladies asking them to look at all these people on the sidewalk. We are all here for them! We are ready and willing to help if they will please come out and talk with us.

We did have one turn away!!
A couple drove in the back parking lot, Kim offered the guy some info and asked what they were here for. They were there for a pregnancy test. She told them about WCC and the malpractice lawsuit against the abortionist and that the other abortionist is a convicted child molester (documentaion here). They were both taken aback by that and eventually followed Kim down to WCC. Praise the Lord!!

Sometimes I'm so surprised how callous people are... I mean, who would want to bring in someone they love (NUMBER ONE) to have an abortion (NUMBER TWO) by a convicted child molester???We do not just throw out that information as a scare tactic... we honestly care about the well being of these women and want to warn them about the shady characters of the people inside the building.

Despite the fact that no one chose life for their babies, the children singing and being a light for Christ was truly encouraging. They stormed the gates of hell like David facing Goliath. Boldly fighting for God's Kingdom. It may seem like the children were defeated, but you can't always look at what you can see, "for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places" (Ephesians 6:12).
God's Kingdom and His Church WILL prevail!

I am so thankful for the witness of one family that came who has adopted 5 of their 9 children! The last two were born addicted to drugs and had to spend time in the hospital to wean off the drugs. The first three they rescued out of some bad situations in foster care. These children's situations and how they came into this world are reasons why women have abortions. I hear men and women say they don't want to have a child that's deformed because of the drugs the mom or dad was on. The world is over populated and the foster system is overloaded with children, why would we (advocates for the unborn) want to perpetuate that? I am thankful the Lord has blessed me with knowing this family because I have had the opportunity to see a real live defense to these arguments.

Smiles!
Yes, it is possible to get discouraged and think that you have to rescue every single orphan in your city, in Africa, in Russia- there are orphans everywhere. That's not the point. The point is there are people who are willing and waiting to adopt children!! The reason they wait is because people would rather kill their children than put them into a loving home with parents who can give that child a life they feel they cannot.
I just want to shout out to all those families who have Adopted or are Foster Parents. THANK YOU for taking in "the least of these"; the orphans, the unwanted. PLEASE share your stories with others!!
I think adoption and foster care should be a priority in every Christian family. The Bible is quite clear that we need to speak up for the defenseless, rescue those being lead to the slaughter, help the orphans. Jonathan and I hope to adopt one day, Lord willing, it can happen more than once. :)

My friend Christina shared some comments her children had about their time out on the sidewalk:

5 Year old Benaiah: "I'm doing God's work by holding signs and telling women to 'not go in there'

Christina: Mommy says to leave the talking to the adults- how are you able to help even if you can't talk to people going in?

Benaiah: Well... I can pray.

-------

Christina to 7 year old Titus: What do you think people think about when they see children at the Mill?

Titus: Well they probably think since those children are grown they didn't kill them... but my baby is just  a tissue box so it's okay.

(He used the term "tissue box" about 10 more times and the word ultrasound- that comes from the "blob of tissue" argument)

-------

Christina to 3 year old Christian: Do you think it's important for you to go to the Mill with mommy and daddy?

Christian: YES

Christina: Why?

Christian: Because there's people going to kill babies

Until next time....
